♦ migrations in Poland and Europe involving various groups (refugees, returning exiles, transmigrants, etc.) and their specific experiences
♦ problems of adaptation, acculturation, assimilation, integration and enculturation of foreigners  
♦ policies towards ethnic minorities in Poland and other EU countries
♦ ethnic conflicts
♦ Germans in Greater Poland today and in the past (processes of German nation formation, Polish-German relations in everyday life in the 18th and 19th centuries, processes of integration among settlers from other areas of Germany throughout history, Polish migration to Germany, contemporary transnationalism)
♦ Bambergers (reconstruction of their history; the causes and forms of assimilation; acculturation; contemporary descendants of Bamberg settlers; identities of members of this group)

Geschichte und Gegenwart” [Poznan Bambergers: The past and today] to mark the opening of the “Poskarten erzählen Geschichte” [Postcards Narrate History] exhibition in Bamberg, 2000; lecture titled “Bajerleinowie – Bambrzy z Winiar” [The Bajerleins: Bambergers from Winiary] presented at a meeting of the Poznan Bamberger Society, 2002; interview for German ZDF radio on the history and culture of the Poznan Bambergers, 2011)
