Research interests:

♦ theoretical and methodological analysis of anthropological theories, in particular those concerning modes of thought and belief systems
♦ anthropological studies of social and cultural changes taking place in contemporary Poland and Central Europe; central to these studies are analyses of the post-1989 socio-political transformation; the anthropology of postsocialism also explores questions including the modes of functioning of civil society, the construction of a middle class, changes in values and identity, the popularity of nationalist ideologies in the region, exploration similarities between the situations of postsocialist and postcolonial societies, changes in class structures and in property relations
♦ European issues: social phenomena and the cultural consequences of Poland being part of the European Union, in particular questions of migration, exile, identity and stereotypes that appear in this context
